New Delhi: Sending a strong message to the erring medical colleges, the Supreme Court today cancelled the admission to 180 MBBS seats in Kannur and Karuna Medical Colleges in Kerala. As per the order, admission to 150 seats in Kannur Medical College and 30 seats in Karuna Medical Colleges were cancelled.
Reinstating the High Court order in October 2016, the Supreme Court observed that admission documents submitted by the medical colleges were not proper. The court also barred the medical colleges from conducting re-admission to these seats for 2016-17 academic year.
Dismissing the Medical Colleges’ appeal that cancelling the admission would affect the future of students, the SC observed that allowing such admission would set a bad example to erring medical colleges.
